Exams/Sight-reading/Trinity · Grade 1
Sight-reading
A short test of around eight bars, simple keys, hands in five-finger positions. Trinity offers a sight-reading or improvisation choice — sight-reading is the more traditional path.
Practice tips for this grade
If you choose sight-reading over improvisation, prepare the workbook regularly.
Build the habit of preparing-then-playing. Don't dive straight in.
Keep the pulse — if you stop, the test cannot be properly assessed.
